C’est La Rentrée! This is the period in France where everyone is back and getting into the swing of things. The kiddos head back to their classes and the parents back to work, though we’re still trying to hold onto summer. Though Parisians are edging back into our routine we’re still outside!
The weather lately has been lovely! We’ve been having days on days of sunshine with temperatures of 80 degrees and above. We’re still rocking our Hermès Chypres and Birkenstocks, poplin shirt dresses, and casual jeans.
I returned Thursday September 7th and I literally slept until Sunday. I was exhausted. California, the states, and the stress that comes along whilst living there almost took me out of here. I returned to Paris twenty pounds heavier, which is inevitable for me when returning from the states. The good news is that I’ve lost six pounds with minimal effort since being home.
I have very little self-control when I’m in the states. I don’t walk, buy vegetables and I literally eat everything not nailed down. I’m also not motivated to go to the gym. The jury is still out on why I become a total couch potato whilst home. Not to say that I don’t have lazy days in Paris, but it’s something about being in the states that makes me aggressively unmotivated to do anything. Nonetheless I’ve decided to extend myself some grace. I lost a parent thus grief, traffic jams, unwalkable cities, and Monsanto are unlikely to motivate anyone.
